Revalidation

GMC Revalidation is due to come into force this year throughout the United Kingdom and will be the new process for ensuring Doctors are fit to practice. All Doctors practicing in the UK will be required to undergo medical revalidation to maintain their GMC licence to practice, including Doctors that work as locums.

The purpose if GMC Revalidation is to ensure that all practising Doctors are keeping up-to-date with professional standards by demonstrating that they comply with the latest medical regulations.

The process of assessing Doctors' performance and fitness to practice will be structured around annual appraisals. It is expected that each Doctor will have had an annual appraisal and 5 consecutive signed off appraisals as well as a 360 ͦappraisal this form the basis of the decision making for the recommendation to the GMC.
