Critical Care Doctor - Medicine 

Pertemps Medical are currently recruiting for a critical care doctor for our client based in the private sector in central London. 

About the hospital 
You will be working for the Largest Private Hospital in the UK, CQC rated ‘Outstanding’. The facility provides complex and acute care across all medical specialties, for patients within the UK and from around the world. They are at the cutting-edge of medicine, performing procedures such as living donor renal and liver transplants, and stem cell transplants for blood cancers and multiple sclerosis.   
Working with eminent consultants who are leaders in their fields of medicine, supported by nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure care is provided at the highest level of complexity, standard and safety. 

Salary: As this is based in the private sector the salaries are competitive and negotiable
Contract: Permanent, Full time (40 hours per week) part time (1 x 24 hours or 2 x 12 hour shifts per week)
Location: Central London 
Speciality: Critical Care/ITU and Anaesthesia
Grade: ST3 - ST6 (Registrar/ Specialist Registrar / Staff Grade/ STR Lower/ STR Hight)

Summary of Duties

Resident Doctors will typically work in the Intensive Care Unit but they also provide wider outreach support to the hospital as part of the emergency medical team. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently within their skillset to review and treat inpatients and formulate plans under guidance with the Consultant in Charge. 

  • To undertake certain medical procedures as required including vascular access e.g. insertion of central venous catheter/vascaths, insertion of arterial lines, intubation, management of tracheostomies, chest/abdominal drain insertion, lumbar puncture, management of acute pain/epidural catheters, use of ultrasound, ventilation management etc, medical escort for transfer of ventilated patients in the hospital or occasionally interhospital/external transfers as required in the Critical Care department.

  • To provide airway management for Critical Care Patients and team leadership as part of the hospital emergency response team, and to provide any urgent medical attention to staff and visitors until the person is admitted under a Consultant or transferred to an NHS facility

  • MBBS medical qualification
  • GMC registration and current licence to practice
  • Evidence of specialist training in intensive care medicine (Critical Care/ITU and Anaesthesia)
  • FRCA, MRCP and/or MRCEM are desirable.
